Padma and I were at cousin Joshua’s house when Xander ran up and told us to come along to see Santa Claus. We all piled into a minibus and drove through the streets of Gudur till we reach a dark and poor neighbourhood. We got out of the car not knowing what to expect.

A vehicle approached with blaring speakers and passed us. I watched it pass and saw Santa sitting in the back. It turned into a street and I went running after Santa. I caught up to Santa and found that he was with cousin Joshua’s son, Jack.

There was music blaring from the loudspeakers and bright lights shining. People were dancing wildly. It was frenetic and even I felt like dancing.

Some boys handed me a leaflet but it was in vain since I don’t read a word of Telegu. But I took their leaflet as they felt so eager to give it to me.

Joshua’s son, Jack, was Santa’s helper and impressed all of us with his dance moves.

The music and vehicle stopped in the middle of a narrow street in dark neighbourhood and suddenly Joshua appeared and had a mike. He spoke in Telagu but it was clear he was preaching the gospel to a group of onlookers who seemed quite fixated on his message.
